    Oil Contamination

    Hi all,

I have a 02 Defender TD5, on the weekend I noticed the turbo 'note' getting slightly louder as I was driving. Crept home and had a good look over, all OK except engine oil higher than normal!!!!!!

I have only had this car for about 5000km's, (140,000 on the clock) so checking everything weekly. Oil is higher and thinner! Previos oil level did not change and oil is only about 3000ks old. Never been hot since I've had it.

Any thoughts? I'm expecting the worst.

    Dan.

It sounds like you have fuel leaking past the injector seals .

I haven't come across this problem on an 'early' 02 Td5, usually 03/04MYs & it can be a lengthy process to fix.

It is possible to run the engine with the cam cover removed & have a look at the base of the injectors to see which one is leaking.

yep, fuel dilution. As Scouse says, or worst case, cracked head. There's been a few of those too.....
