The defender image must have turned a lot to suicidal cases .

Just thinking today, those that had purchased a new deefer, back around 1994, on the image the vechicle presented, and copped all the probs that could occur within the first 80.000 ks, must have been deverstated after what they had to pay originally.

    Water pumps

    lift pump

    vacumnpump

    belt tensioner

    timing belt debarkel

    Gearbox issues

    Axle flanges

    oil leaks

    roof linning collapsing

    electrical nightmare

    pinion seals on rear diff

    steering box excessive leaks

    Aframe wear

    plastic plugs failing cooling system

    Hub seals

I have had all that within in 150,000ks and expect more to come, with a second hand one, I am a total nut case, but have managed to keep the shot gun in the shed!!, Why do i keep the thing?, cause when its going well!!, theres nothing better than driving a Landy,

    Cheers Sumo

Mate half the fun of owning one....
you can take oil leaks and pinion leak off the list as that is standard..
When I just had my rear diff done the landy Mech said that an pinion leak occuring was an indication of adjustment being required..just to make the day better...
Oh load up with SSG's if cheapens the funeral costs as there is less body to be buried
