Hi all,
This afternoon I have just put on BFG MTs in 265/75/R16 on my D2, I have driven all of about 10 kms since. I have a 40mm spring lift and an ARB bar. I am getting a little rubbing on full lock, both left and right. It goes away with about a 1/8th turn back to centre. I'll investigate further over the weekend. From memory, I have 19mmm steering stops.
These are strictly offroad tyres for me, as I now have 2 sets. My old BFG ATs in 245/70R16s (29.50inch) are now city only, but previously in some circumstances offroad, I was using my diffs as ploughs. It annoyed me that I couldn't go as far as my old Defender and other Disco's with the 32's, and even it I could, it would be with considerably more effort. I decided on this size because I do a mix of day trips and touring so I wanted the best of both worlds.
If I was only using the Disco for touring/city use, I probably wouldn't have bothered getting the 32's, maybe the 245/75/R16 (30.5inch) in a mud or AT would be a better multi-use size. Then there would be less issues with the gearing and speedo and no rubbing. I think in general touring, diff clearance problems are down the list of problems that'll stop you getting to camp on time.
That said, the 32' MTs will be fun!

Congrats Ben,
Im sure you`ll make it up that hill next time. It sure wasnt through the lack of trying. Im sure the muddies will do the job 4 u & it will be so much easier on the car.
If you`re using the muddies 4 off road only (& thats the way 2 go ) I would`nt worry about adjusting the steering stops, if it starts 2 rub just back off a little. That way u retain your turning circle when the other tyres go back on.
Cheers Dean.
Ps. If u r swapping tyres reguarly get 1 of those 12volt rattle guns there tops.
Yeah I'll second that! I would got nuts (excuse the pun) changing the tyres with a manual tyre iron! I love my rattle gun!
