    MY 2002 Defender.

My 2003 Xtreme (MY02) is for sale on www.carsales.com.au
It hasn't got all the goodies you want for free but is an excellent vehicle, well maintained and has only 66,000klms on her.
"Not even run in at that" the main stealer and others say.
Only prob. we've ever had was the Throttle Potentiometer which was replaced and it's never missed a beat since. It didn't before incident that either.
Buy it and add what you want, not what others have bought as their preference.
    Good luck anyway.
    Alan.

As noted the 2002 model still has the Salisbury rear axle which is arguably stronger than the rover one. I suspect you will maxi it anyway so no big deal.

What the hell is a mudpod? Ipod mounted under the chassis perhaps?
    G'day Greylandy,

    What year is your beast?

The Mudpod is a pod for extra guages on top of the dash:

Yes I know this is Pauls - but it came from the http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/Mudpod.html

Defenders are fine for touring... the noise issue is over-rated IMHO. We travelled around Oz for 12 months and I can still hear fine....

The 2002 UK build were the last of the salisbury. They then switched to SA supplied vehicles which went to the rover diff.

Kimba is a 2002 and still has the salisbury.
