    brake lights staying on

    my brake lights in my 86 auto Rangie are staying on but if i get my foot under the brake pedal and pull it back they go off is there a switch or a spring that is worn any ideas.

    -Sticky brake pedal pivot
    -Sticky brake light switch
    -Weak/broken return spring

    Give the pivot area a spray first & see how that goes. If that doesn't work, try removing the switch & see if the pedal comes all the way back then.

    Removing the under dash panel will give you better access.

    It also might be a wire getting caught somewhere.
