Angle grinder + aluminium panels = fun

I got a bit bored yesterday and I think I was having withdrawal symptoms because I have had nothing to cut up on the Rangie for a while. So I took to the Disco with the angle grinder.

The rear lower quarter panel is now how I think it should have been from the factory. I also added a couple of extra brackets so the panel is a lot tighter than what it normally is.

There is a new exhaust going in on Friday so they will tuck the new one away nice and high behind the panel.

I have a nice bit of rubber trim to finish it all off with and hide the rivets and some new mudflaps. Will post some pics when I put these on.

Noice! Definitely the way they should have come originally.

Are you altering the exhaust at all i.e. removing middle muffler?

Yes. There is a new 2.5" single system going in with extractors, new sports cat's and a baffled sports muffler, and re,oving the rear resonator.

Be good if you could record sound grabs before & after for comparison. If it's a Td5 I would be very interested in the change to driveability. Thanks.

Looks great. Need to show us what you did in the project forum. Those tyres look really good! How do you rate em? Are they noisy?

Goodyear MTR's. They are the best, could not speak more highly of them.

I have tried a few other brands and keep coming back to the MTR's. I think they are the best comprimise in a tyre. They are sort of between an A/T and a M/T. They are definately more noisy than an A/T but less than an M/T. They are good on the road, sand, rock but not so good in mud.

The only real offroading I do in the Disco is outback trips and IMO the MTR's are the best desert tyre.
