That computer set up looks ideal!
Just a quick one re the connectors from LR to whatever Adam.... Go to Autobarn, they sell Eurovox to whatever adaptors, I bought one for my LR to a Sony and the whole installation took les than 15 mins!
Any chance you might disclose the cost of th gucci looking 12v comp?

Your car PC can actually run without a head unit at all, the stereo line out from the sound card on the PC can go straight to an amplifier - much better sound quality than using an FM transmitter.

Here's a few car PC links - some cool ideas, Satnav, Topo Mapping, MP3's, Movies, Wireless Internet/email with a 3G card, Wireless network card to connect to your home PC - the list goes on!

Thanks Wardy, I will look into those adaptors.

Not sure on the cost of the computer as I get this stuff from a mate at better than usual prices....but I think you would be looking at a little over $900.

Yes I agree, the FM transmitter does not give great quality but by the time you buy an amp and extra speakers and then find somewhere to mount it all I thought just buying a $150 head unit would be a lot simpler.
You can't hear a lot over the roar of the Muddy's anyway.

I've fitted a 12V computer with 7" touch screen into my D2. Here's a link to the small write up on my setup. I can get more details if required.

No, screen does not move around. I mounted a bracket, by putting bolts down through the top skinny tray.
I also made the bracket as short as possible. When I first installed it a couple of years ago I put a longer bracket and this moved around heaps.

You can come around one day and have a look. Maybe the D1 is different? I know I have been unable to get a good dash support in the Rangie because there is no solid fixing.

I'll have a look at mine again tomorrow night.

I was even thinking roof mount! Might just drill the hell out of the roof and run the cables down the cage lol
