Fuel supply probo....

ok,
i would have thought by now GQ would have put the update on,
the fuel pump was pumping like a trojan, the nut was cracked on the back of the fuel filter, saw a large amount of fuel coming out,
fuel filter came out, you need three hands for that, lucky I had one I wasn't using.
The reverse flush on the filter, revealed copious amount of black,brown,colured fuel, as well as bits of sediment and lots of it, reverse flow was average, normal flow, was drops. conclusion the filter is hoplessly clogged.
When last seen at 4pm , gq was soon to head into town to try and source an aftermarket filter, similar to the coopers brand that was on it. ( btw the filter was aged, it had a bit of that black paint on it the stealers tart up underbodies with.)
Hopefully by the late evening will be on with some good news.

Okay, I'm back again...(had to run several kids around after school etc)

and JohnE summed it up very well...

thus far, the inline fuel filter is out, (and thanks to JohnE for the extra help, that was a job and a half) has been identified as a Coopers PIG071 which is also a Ryco 479.

I've sourced a replacement from a local (Gibbos) who has them instock, unlike the local Superjoint, and tomorrow a new unit will go in - $33.

The current one is still in a bath of petrol and is still leeching out sediment.

John and I used an air pressure hose on it after several shakes with petrol and even more crap p1ssed out of it.

Given the amount of crap in there, its amazing it worked, and as pointed out, I'm a lucky guy in a backhanded kinda way... the failure is here, right in front of the house and beside the workshop, and not on the beach, which over the past week, I've driven about 150ks...(its the greatest 'shortcut' from Evans Head to Ballina, just don't tell anybody). Some people go to work and get to see traffic and traffic lights, I get a nice wide spectacular and ever changing beach, for about 25 ks each way.

However, the underbody is showing signs of constant beach use....oh well...

When the new unit goes in tomorrow, I'll report.....

Let's hope not too much shyte got past it.

If it proves to be ok, maybe some decent Injector Cleaner should be on the list of things to do soon in case there is more residue further down the line.

Also a good move. :D I wonder what the shyte is?

This is why I always carry a spare new fuel filter and when I do not have a new one a good old one I have removed. Hope thats all it is.
