"the required pressure is between 30 and 40 psi - so gravity won't cut it, well nut unless you have a 100 ft tower near you "

Just to be a smart@**** i did the figures - GQ only needs a 60-80ft tower

In the manual it says to connect the gauge at the outlet of the fuel filter - which would mean a completely different type of connector for the gauge .........bugger

Ah well, that's all right then. No excuse now, especially if he lives next door to his local Fire Station & has got a long hose.

    in order--

    tank full of muddy fuel

    car fails to proceed,,

3 (yes 3) professional injector cleaning of all eight injectors,

listen to car being wound over for that long I had to walk away---

    car runs

replacement of fuel filter (just in case)

    fuel pump failure.

from dirty fuel to pump failure took about a fortnight.

do you see a pattern forming?

I dont think I've heard (on here) of replacement pump failures on the D1,,

so yours could well be the original,,,

    GQ,
my eyes are sore from reading each update,
oops so it was something else as well.
I have been relatively free most of the day, finished the macca dryer this morning, and the fire has been burning all day.
I could have done some skulking for you.
If you want anything tomorrow let me know, via phone , alexander works at 10am tomorrow so i am in town before then.

don't worry John, i wasn't on it too much today, in between the phone going all day, doing a few fiddles to it, waiting for the batt to come back up, fiddling, phones, more fiddling, reading the suggestions here and repsonding, just now, 1730 hrs, i ran up the pump directly from the tank to a bucket and it ran real well... for about 20 secs, then the flow became a trickle.... so initially, the donk gets enough juice to be promising, then no go..... the pump is sus....

and having read thru the suggestions, like the pump has failed due to trying to push thru a blocked filter, sounds about right thus far.........which is in a way where we were heading yesterday, but the filter has only been a part of the prob.....

i'm still trying to track down a pump from ches at wollongbar and if he has one, then i'lll drop it in and see what happens, i'll get bak to you..
