First check all fuses - thats the easiest place to start.
After that with a meter check the 'signal' wire (The one that energises the solenoid) to the starter - you'll need a hand doing this. Disconnect it from the starter put the meter on it and get your 'assistant' to turn the ing switch to start - if you have 12v (+/-) there you know that bits okay.
If not you will need to trace back to see why there is no 12v at the signal.
If you do have 12v - reconnect, and retest - you should notice a voltage drop if it's trying
Does the solenoid click ?
If fuses are okay, if the signal to the starters okay - put a jump lead between Neg on the battery and the case of the starter to see if it's just a bad earth.
If that doesn't work, bridge the terminals on the solenoid with a big screwdriver - careful though. If then it turns and you have a signal wire live it may be the solenoid
