I was told to change the fan belt when it had cracks showing.

Re: Diff oil... I'd like to know too. On a previous (non-LR) car, i asked my mechanic to change the g/box and diff oil on a service. He gave me a funny look and said "why, is there a problem?". "No, but it hasn't been done in the 10 years i've had the car. May as well be today?" Very strange. I reckon 50 years could have gone by and he wouldn't have suggested it.

if no specs are given......diff and gearbox oils.....and swivel hub oils......
should be changed every 40,000kms or every two years....which ever is first.....
    and dont forget the transfercase.......

the levels should be checked at every service........

and all oils should be checked after off roading....especially if driving through mud
or water.........you need to check for oil contamination.........

Ancillary drive belt on the TD5 is 160,000km, but check every 10,000km.

New diff oils are at 160,000km also, but to be checked and topped up every 40,000km.

There is no timing belt, its a chain.

Above is according to the service manual. I wouldn't hang on to the fan belt too long. They're not worth much and I had one replaced at 40,000km, and will probably renew mine again shortly at 100,000km. I've also just heard of one letting go at 100,000km and the TD5 engine doesn't cope very well with that.

Diffs, I would change at least every 40,000km or whenever you get water in there.
    Cheers

my driveline oils get done at 50k km, the serpentine at the same time and the one coming off goes to the spares box.

everything gets checked every 10k km or as soon as practicable after wading.

all grease nipples get one shot of grease at the 10k km mark or after a dusty run.
