    Difficult CDL

Hi all, after a recent trip away towing the campervan, I was dropping oil from the vehicle ( 97 TDI300 Disco ) as part of it's maintenance, re Gearbox and Transfer box, noted that the T/box had less oil than normal, while under the vehicle I decided to squirt the CDL linkage with some Lano based product as it looked a bit gunked up. As I hadn't used the Cdl for a few weeks I decided to lock and unlock the CDL, moving between all ranges, but once in the Diff lock position, it takes a lot of force to bring it back over to the right so I can lock it back into FWD normal mode, the light on the dash can take a while to turn off!! Have I cooked the transfer box towing? All else seems to run ok, no loss in power or fuel economy?
    Cheers

i very much doubt it, it is more than likely a collection of gunk in the detents and stiffness on the shift linkages. This is a common problem on army rovers as its a rare occasion that a driver will actually clean underneath other than to get to the filler plugs to check the levels as part of the monthly nontech, If they do that.

Driving in reverse in a straight line for 50' or so, can release the gubbins & turn off the light, all things being equal. I think it covers this in the User Handbook somewhere.

If your going along that line of thinking, ( I had assumed you ment it was sticking after doing this) you may find that reversing and going lock to lock as you do will also help.
