Yep, I installed that kit a few weeks ago.
Not too hard and definately the best kit going around
Hello All.
Has anyone fitted one of these kits - did you have any dramas if you did it yourself and without the use of a forklift or body hoist, what did you come up with as the most effective way of doing it at home. I was thinking of dunkin g the old girl on the axles (on wood blocks of course) then use a few axle stands to support the body?? Haven't chosen a kit yet either.
Option 1) $690

..plus brake lines/extensions...etc
Any advise/opinion would be welcomed.
Thanks.
Option 2) don't do it.

Is it legal for an Airbag equipped vehicle to do a body lift?
I put one in last year in my carport.
The kit is worth every cent. Instructions are clear. (one ommission - don't forget to extend the fuel line from the filter mounted on the engine bay firewall to the lift pump).
I had two jack stands and a trolley jack - did it myself. Just takes patience.
Some stuff is very fiddly but it's all possible.
You will also have to make a new rubber boot around the transfer tunnel as the existing one wont last long once it is stretched to accomodate the lift.
PM me if you need any specific details. Or ring Andrew at LRA - he's very helpful.
Thanks guys. Very helpful - i did find a copy of the instructions on the tech forum.
As for the D2 - i helped a mate glue an ARB bar on his '97 D1 and the 'crush cans' - or the way they crush in a stack - on the bar might be adversely affected by a lift kit???? Maybe a call to ARB would help with your question..
Thanks guys.
I would not be putting a bodylift on a 97 Disco......or any other vehicle with airbags. If something goes wrong you are stuffed. But you could speak to Andrew at LRA about it, he will put you on the right track.
I am not sure how all Nissan drivers get away with it....now I remember, they have huge spring lifts so they dont have to use body lifts.
Just get a length of Aluminium rod 50mm in diameter cut into 10 pieces 50 mm long with a 11mm hole drilled in the cetnre. Then get new body rubbers and 10 grade 8 high tensile bolts with nylocs and flat washers. You will also need some 25 x 3mm flat steel for seat belt extensions and 50 x50 mm RHS for the load carrying mountsunder the rear cargo area and under the front seats. You will need to loosen the steering shaft uni's and get longer flexible brake and clutch hoses. The top radiator mounts need to lowered as well. Then there is the front and rear bars if you have them which will require modification. Front bard are fairly easy, but the rear bar is fiddly. Keep on eye on the battery earth lead to the chassis as well.. As for lifting. I used a trolley jeck under the floor on each side. Also loosen the fuel filler hose to the fuel tank
Here are a few picks...
