Righto My drivers door likes to bounce back open when I try to close it, this only happens on cold mornings. The seal is intact with no splits or cracks and the latch functions ok. Every thing seems in order. So why dose it only do this on cold mornings?

Spray lock and button mechanism with Lanotec...
Mine did this too, was just a sticky mechanism.
I had the same problem, would mainly occur first thing in the morning but occassionally during/after rain - if not an outright refusal to close the driver door would often only partially catch and would pop open on the highway and then refuse to close - had to drive with an occy strap holding the door closed for 30kms to get to work earlier this week....
After two months of this problem driving me to despair (because it only happened first thing in the morning, and by the time I got it anywhere it started closing properly again), and trying the usual fixes of adjusting the striker plate (even swapping it with the passenger side) and spraying everywhere I could reach, all to no avail, I eventally resorted to leaving the door closed overnight and climbing in via the back door, which didn't have this problem.
Eventually, I discovered that about half a cup full of water would leak out the bottom of the driver door seal at the front when I finally opened the door after driving to work.
My 'fender is parked outside overnight, and what was happening during rain or a heavy dew was that water was getting into the door seals and accumulating inside the seal (blocked by the filler bits inside the seal around the curved bits of the body), thus preventing the seals from compressing and hence the bounce .
Have sealed up all the little breather holes in the door seals with silicone sealant and haven't had the problem since...
Cheers lads, Have tryed swaping striker plates. But I'll give that ago shuffle.

This thread has inspired me to try and fix my door lock once again, but to no avail. Sprayed everything with lubricant following TombRaiders hint.
It just bounces open. The latch will "just" catch on the first click (if I shut it gently) but firmly shutting it just bounces the door open.
I've moved the striker plate into every concievable position, so it must be the internals in the door. Anyone replaced the lock mechanism?
Will have to go and spin up my RAVE CD to see if I can see how difficult it might be.
The latch seems to be fixed now, after pulling it out of the door and washing it in petrol. Got quite a good amount of sand and dust sludge out of it.
It is shutting very sweetly now. Bit of a palaver to take off the door trim etc but worth it to have a door that closes once again. The RAVE manual makes it a very straightforward job.
