    electric door locks.

Has anyone fitted central locking to a 110. If so, how easy is it and are there any traps to avoid.
Also thoughts on friction modifier oil additives. Are they any good or would using a good oil do?

What year is it? Defenders after 2002 had central locking already, and it isn't activated in some.

I fitted central locking to my 110 about twelve years ago. Not very difficult, but quite a lot of work, a lot of fiddly work on each door. Would be expensive if you paid someone to do it.

As John says, a bit fiddly, and made a bit more annoying by the broblem that there isn't much trim to hide the wires behind, especially around the B pillars.

Worth doing though, I reckon you could get sick of leaning across to unlock doors all the time.

I fitted central locking to my 2000 Defender a few weeks ago and an alarm/immobilliser. Central locking is easy, allow a day, alarm is bit harder but not much. The back door is a different issue but do able. I have pics of the rear doors and back door that I will post. I put the control unit behind the dash / instrument binacle, plenty of room and ran the wiring for the passenger side behind the vent cavity in the dash. Worth it, yes for the main doors but only maybe for the rear/back door. DSE have the kits for $29, you will require 2 kits to do all 5 doors, fortuanately I have a 2 door project Torana to utilise as well.
Back doors, bracket strip required to mount. On the front doors no bracket strip is required, just angle on existing inner skin.

I reverse mounted the rear door so it would not foul on the cargo drawers, will make up a protective shroud later.

Just go to Super Cheap, you can buy a complete kit for about $50.00 All the wires are there to put it in, with the instructions. Although its a Supa cheap, the kits actually pretty good.

When the central locking went on my Rangie thats what I did, worked like a charm never had a problume with the kit.

The attached picture shows my rear door installation. the lever enables the actuator to be put inside the door lining, making for quite a neat installation. I was able to buy a single additional actuator from Jaycar.

The other doors are similar to yours allowing for the differences with the older door type (less room with thinner doors!).

Yeah I have done mine ...

    Its a bitch of a job ..

Doors are thin, there is no cableing runs for the wires so they need to be made up (If you want a clean install) the rest is easy ... if you take your time and do it right its really nice ..

Regarding the back door ... my god I would never butcher my def like picture 1 .. and picture 2 looks alot better .. would love more info!

I fitted central locking to my 200tdi Defender about 3 years ago. I used one of the kits from Strathfields (about $29 for the 4 door kit) and I found it pretty straightforward to do. The only tricky bit was to get the shape of the mounting bracket right so that it didn't interfere with the door card. Also the actuator rod needs a wide dogleg bent in it to avoid fouling the rod from the lock button, but other than that there weren't any difficulties.

There are some pictures in the gallery:
