yes i'm lpg but also have a petrol capability. there has never been such an item on my v8, even before it was lpg converted.

The cannister is for emission control - basically it is supposed to absorb using activated charcoal the fuel vapors arising from evaporation in the float bowls and the fuel tank thereby preventing said fuel vapors from contaminating the atmosphere:eek:
It has(had?) three connections - one to carb float bowls, one to fuel tank and the other to a vacuum source -generally the air cleaner.
