fitting SU's in place of strombergs

i've got a hold of a pair of su carbs to replace the strombergs on my 3.5 V8 i also have all the linkages etc. however what i'm a little unsure of is the 2 pipes that come off each carb. i presume that 1 is for the rocker cover breathers (like the strombergs) but what about the other? any pics of su's in situ and an explanation of what goes where would be great.
    thanks.

From memory (it's cold out there at the moment, and I aint going to look) the small pipe goes to the charcoal cannister.

If they are plumbed the same as the strommies then as RR says the smal 6-8mm pipes go to the canister and the larger 13mm or so ones go to a Y piece and to the rh rocker cover flame trap.

Every 110 V8 I've seen is set up so each rocker cover has a breather pipe and flame trap which goes to each carb on the same side. The Y piece is for the smaller lines going to the charcoal cannister from each float chamber - ie one from each float chamber to the Y piece then one line to the charcoal cannister.

Just had a look at my SU's.
The outer pipe on each carb is the float chamber vent which conects to the Y piece and then to the charcoal cannister.
The inner pipe is the crankcase breather to each rocker cover.

Sorry I don't have a picture for a 3.5 V8, but from memory it is located near/behind the power steering fluid resevoir

It's a black plastic cylindrical thingy about 3" dia and 6" high, doesn't really do anything else so it should be easy to figure out.

But ...........are you running 100% lpg ???

If so then the canister may have been removed - as you don't need it.

My '89 V8 never had a charcoal canister, just tubes hanging down to below the sump, away from the exhaust pipes. The small tubes are overflow/vent tubes to prevent fuel dripping onto the exhaust.
