Leyland 4.4 Terrier specs

What about a Z30. Bushies old Rangie took a Z30 while my Stage 1 used a Z9. Same deal, different thread.

You could try a remote oil filter adapter that takes a Z9 filter.

I remember looking at a brand new long motor (complete with starter and alternator, manifolds, carbs, etc.) at Ron Barrett Motors in Penrith back in the 70s.

I wanted it for my Ford Transit. Cost $400

yes fit a rover timingcover and oil pump then you can use a z9 oil filter

Fit an external oil cooler and it goeson before the filter and they usualy have a z9 thread mine dose :D:D:D

Tho the oil cooler is a must on a p76 in the rangie as they run to hot with out a cooler :D:D

The only problem with that is the oil pump gears are smaller and the pump wont pump as much oil, but maybe them putting the larger pump on the 4.4 was overkill?

I dont know about NZ but here in oz i know of plenty P76,s running around with rover timing covers on them , hell ive had a s11a with a terrier motor running the rover cover and my last CRR that i built the 4.4 up for had a rover cover .
I have not heard of any problems with using a rover cover you must remember a rangie is not a Truck its a 4x4 and the terrier was a truck motor:cool:

As I said the larger pump may have been over engineering, the P76 car engine also has the larger pump and its not a truck (though some may dissagree) :p

Might start looking around for a 3.5 for parts me thinks:D

The Terrier heads are diferent, extra water jacket external ports and lower compression (combustion camber?).
Deeper dish pistons.
When you put the rover cover on it helps to drill the 2 oil drain holes in the block from the valley cover chamber to the timming case chamber.
Does anyone know where to get oil filter/oil cooler adapter for the rangie timming cover?
