    speedo conversion in transfer

    Okay here's my dilemma

I've swapped to a '94 disco transfer case in my 96 defender.

The defender's speedo is cable driven but the disco transfer only had the electronic part attched and the cable doesn't fit into the place of it... anyone able to offer a suggestion on how to get working please???

Is it possible to get an attachment or to alter the thread on the cable to fit???

Am currently using a gps for speed but not sure if the cops would like that

    Thanks in advance

you should be able to swap the speedo driver over from the old transfer - this is what I did when I built the Rangie.

My Rangie transfer was a cable drive and the Disco was electronic - I pulled out the driver (pretty easy) and checked the number of teeth on each driver and installed the Rangie speedo driver (cable type) into the Disco transfer.

The easiest solution, in my mind is, to get the Disco speed sensor and speedo.

Oh my GPS speedo is 10 times more acurate than the one in my wifes falcon, and spot on with my D2.

thanks for that LRH... does the transfer need to be removed to change them over or does it screw out itself independently?

    just pops out.

There is a fork that holds the driver and cable in place - remove this fork and then with a flat screw driver your should be able to pop it out.

The driver has a rubber O ring and this is the only bit of suction you need to break to get it out.
