Hi mate
Check out a few of the UK Series sites.
Hand painting(ie with a paint brush) is all the go over there.
If you warm your paint it will flow better and brushmarks will be minimal.

Recommend you buy 4 litres of machinery enamel. Its only about $60 tinted. I use Protec - color name is 'Olive Drab - Fleet'. Make sure you get the paint place to add about 10% flattening base or it will be too glossy which doesnt look right with olive drab. If they dont have flattening base, find another paint shop. Also the flatter the paint, the more panel and other imperfections it hides and the easier it is for a beginner to spray.
This is what I did, although not that colour - can't remember the cost, but I do remember that replacing all the grommets, rubber strips and door seals cost a LOT more than the paint did. I used thin adhesive neoprene strips to seal between bolt together panels such as the floor panels and seat box etc. You will also use quite a bit of thinners, mainly for cleanup. As with any painting, the results are almost entirely dependent on preparation.

if you like olive drab, you may also want to consider bronze green, it's authentic, a bit classier and looks good with or without a gloss. It goes well with ivory roof and ivory wheels (unless you've got mags).
Steve, have a look at the REMLR page here.

Camouflage green from PROTEC is what we use for the ex military land rovers. it hs the flattening base in it and should be about $46 for 4 litres.

Don't use machinery enamel - it doesn't have the UV stabilisers that proper automotive paints have. When I first built my IIA, I painted it with that, and the the paint went matt and chalky VERY quickly. Matt is no problem - but the paint won't last anywhere near as long as a real auto paint.
