It was an option - so long ago, I am not sure of the price - perhaps $2K?? Glad we took the option - it is the ducks guts.

Yes, an option. Factory option only though, not able to be retro-fitted to a car (unless you're really, really keen, or really, really stupid ).

I know of a few cars with SLS + a lift. It can be beneficial at times & I can't really think of it being a hinderance when it's all working nicely.

To add my 2 cents worth, A.C.E is outstanding (except yep it was a $4000 option and that was 4 years ago). Own 2003 td5 auto and can throw it around corners and very little body roll at all. I compared a non-ace equipped disco when test driving and was sold on the ace eqipped vehicle. Like chalk n cheese.

But then again you could probably get similar performance from after-market suspension kits.

    Cheers

what is impressive according to the owners manual is that on rough stuff it apperently disengages the sway bar like a sway bar bar disconnecters for extra articulation how good is that

My '00 D2 has ACE, it was a fairly expensive option, I wanted SLS as well but was talked out of it by the stealer (probably none in the country at the time)

excuse a potentially stupid question, but I've just put down a deposit on a 99 S2 Disco which I'm yet to pick up. It seems to be a base model to me with no options apart from sunroof and bullbar, but how would I know if it had ACE - does this system require air suspension and/or is there something on the dash - is it 'adjustable' in any way. Graeme Cooper reckons its 'crap' in terms of reliability, but the comments above suggest otherwise???

I had a look this afternoon on one side of the sway bar looks normal where the other side has some sort of a hydrolic arm

from what i understand though is that it has a great drive effect mine has as little sway almost as little as my WRX subaru which is great in my books

reliabilty I dont know, repair cost huge I would imagine
