IMO, for the small difference in price, stick with the Hi Lift.

Unless you've had a bad experience with yours anyway.

I bought a Hi-Lift, just because I didn't know if the mounting kits for them would fit a cheaper generic one.

I've got a Black Rat, works fine, not that I need it often.

Jackall, 8000 Lb, 1000Lb more than hi-lift, had mine 15 years, done a lot of work with no problems. worth the extra money over a cheap one.

IMHO, the capacities are pulled out of someones ar$e.

The masts are slender in the sideways direction, thus making the buckling load the limit.

I have a highlift but haven't looked closely at the others. If the mast sections are similar, then so is their capacity.

I got my Jackall in 1976.

A creeper pin lock failed about 1986, which i fixed, and failed again some years later.

It's a great device and has done its bit, including lifting boats, tables, winching out tree stumps, and even lifting the odd 4wd, but (as some have experienced here) I still dont trust it.....(and I do know how it works and its limitations)

I just feel that one day, the whole centre is going to go 'bang'.... but it will probably outlive me........

    from Experience.

I have the Jackall and Tusker has the Highlift.

Both lift our heavy trucks on big hills.

Highlift buckles but holds whilst the jackall doesnt buckle.

the highlift seems to be better quality but my jackall lives on my roofrack and in the rain and dust and is till going strong.

    my 2cents
