You will use about 10% more fuel with a Td5 over a 300Tdi.

I averaged 10.1 litres/100km from my old 200Tdi Defender over about 100,000kms. However, with 62,000kms on the Td5 Defender so far, I am only averaging 11.6 litres/100km.

    300Tdi 110 SW
    Best 10 litres per 100km
Worst 13 litres per 100km (towing a high load)
    Urban 11.5 litres per 100km

Those figures are calculated over 12 months, 20,000+km.

Im guessing a TDi is a cheaper re-build option than a TD5.The TD5 hasnt got too good a reputation!!!!!
Happy enough with my TD5 Disco, but as Frenchie says"I dont trust the thing"
Plenty of TD5 HORROR STORYS AROUND.

Reading LRO, it seems 300Tdi maintain an almost unrealistic resale value. They're (according to the LRO article) percieved to be the last of the real Land Rover motors, and there's the comfort of a disticnt lack of electrickery.

I know, and if BMW hadn't put a stop to Land Rover R&D there would have been a TD4 and a TD6 with interchangeable parts.

I was just reporting on the article, which in turn was reporting on public perceptions.
