Thread: Starter motor

The starter went for a trip to the auto electrician, I ran out of time due to work and family pressures to work on it myself and the fact that our 3rd car goes to its new owner on Friday.
According to the auto elec its terminal. I will update cost etc in the next few days for others future reference.

get an auto elec who is actually interested in customer service...

It takes me about an hour and a half to strip that thing down, clean it, test the armature and field windings, replace the brushes and then install a new throw out solenoid, Add another hour if you want to reuse the throwout solenoide.


Assuming the best case scenario Id only replace the contactors for the relay part of the solenoid normally Id do the bruses as well as preventative measure.

If the armature or field windings are stuffed (doubt it if it was actually starting the rover after a bit of the old tap tap) then Id replace it.
