depends on how stuck you are, on a deefer it will put some stress on the bar and the front axle/steering gear protector but will work without and cataclysmic problems... IT only takes 15 soldiers pulling on a rope to slide an unloaded 6x6 that is hung up on the diffes with the one sides rubber in the air back onto terror firma. (and funny a 6x6 carries 14 grunts and a co-e) The parts in question should be able to deal with that.
But if you were stuck in the aluvial NT/NQ black soil and it was sinking, I wouldnt be trying it.
