don't believe that pumping air in will stop water.
when we thrash around in water and get deep enough for the water to get to the bell housing and in it, it won't matter how much air you blast in to the starter, the ring gear acts as a pump splashing the water everywhere, and the starter has a very big open area which you cannot seal. the water will enter that and if you have perfected sealing the starter externally from ingress of water, guess what, you have also sealed it from egress of water.
i know as i have proved this, and starters are not cheap.
if you dunk it be prepared to maintain it.
all that crap about positive pressure air to the starter is crap.
depending where you put the air in you either blow the lubrication out or just blow.
for those that do not believe, pull the starter off and look.
