    Changing LT95 transfer ratios insitu

My 4 speed 110 V8 currently has range rover transfer gears - 1.113 I believe.
It has a 4.3 stroker but I still feel that with the 32" tyres the overall gearing is slightly too tall. Cruising rpm is about 2500 at 100 k's. If it had a 5 speed that would be fine but with the current gearing its like driving around in 5 th from 60 - 70 km/h. So I'm contemplating getting hold of a set of standard V8 110 gears (1.34) which would increase the cruising rpm to about 3000 at 100 k's but give me a fair bit more zip through the gears and hopefully not wear out the motor too quickly..........

A 5 speed is probably the best option but I'm not in a position to be able to convert at this point.

How hard is to change the transfer gears without removing the gearbox?
Are there any tricks or special setup requirements to avoid whines or premature failures?

Thanks - I read the thread. It seems that we both have the same/similar engines, you want to go higher and I want to go lower..........hope my engines OK

Is 3000 rpm @100 for a stroker going to be OK?

id have thought that it was ok... but theres other tuning aspect to be taken into consideration..

I like engines with all their torque down low, but then I tow lots so that suits me and higher gearing isnt really a problem.

if you like an engine that screams along making bulk power and torque at the top of the rev range then your going to need a shorter set of ratios to keep the engine on the boil.
