    exhaust flapper

hey everyone i was thinkng of making an exhaust flapper (like a truck) for my Defender. would doing this cause any problems ?? would it effect fuel economy ?? would it matter if after a long run the exhaust pipe was covered stright away when the flpper goes down ?? would it matter if any gases in the pipe were still in there after a run
    Thanks
    Regards Adrian

I've been thinking about this too.
A mate of mine with an exhaust business rockons you should just buy one from a wrecker. I think he said toyota Dyna or some swear word like that. As long as it is the right diameter for your exhaust.
I am interested to hear any feed back as well.

It just stops the rain getting in vertical exhaust pipes as on trucks and earth moving gear.

The truck industry calls them rain hats.

It'd stop water being sucked into the engine if you stalled in a river crossing...
Or is that just a myth?

Any Ag Place that sells tractor bits can get them in for you. These ones just bolt on.

Ok here is the one i made (very rough and quick)

any ideas on a better mount than a hose clamp ??
i had to put rubber under the clamp to lift it because the end of the exhaust curls out and the mount had to sit level with the hinge i used. any ideas of a better/ more presentable mount ?? it has to sit high on the pipe so its level with the curl in the pipe. any ideas would be great.
it looks good from a distance
    Regards Adrian
