Some intermitent problems with my D2A

    Hi,

I've recently had my battery go flat on me and I've since started to have a couple of niggly problems but I don't know if its related. I have a D2A 2003 TD5.

    - I've had a problem starting on occassions, it needed me to turn off the engine and wait a while before trying again which normally solves the problem.
    - Today my ABS and Traction Control warnings went on, which was remedied by the stop, turn off and re-start method.
    - And I'm constantly having my alarm go off.

Are these all some how related to my battery going flat, should I get it checked?

    Thanks,

I would certainly have it checked, most battery places will check it for free.

.............but before you do, just check the terminals on the battery are clean, dry and tight.

I know the terminals on mine are useless and hard to keep tight.

If what Ladas says doesn't resolve it I'd suspect the battery is on the way out. Get it tested and I'd say it will be needing replacing. In this case though I'd suspect it isn't showing 12V or more so putting a multimeter across it may show something, this is because it sounds like an ECU/sensor issue. The fault codes should clear but if the electronic's aren't powered properly then it may be the issue. If they don't go away I'd hook it up to the computer and get it cleared/checked out.

The battery is new, I started getting these problems after my original battery went flat. I must say though the terminals need a clean and I did neglect the original battery. I'll disconnect the battery and the terminal a good clean hopefully this will set things right, but I might get it checked to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for the input.

Why dont you check the charge rate of your alternator. it may be too high or to low. each which will affect the operation of various modules in the vehicle, by logging a code or bringing on a light etc. if you cant do it yourself take it to a competent auto elec who should be able to tell you the prob, because it does sound like an electrical issue.
