Correct but i reckon you could possibly rotate the bellhousing slightly to compensate. I have seen a few 318/360 powered rangie's around.

I measured the 265 Hemi sitting in my yard and it has a SAE No.3 bell housing bolt pattern. If anyone is interested, I also have a TorqueFlite (push button) from a Valiant AP6 ute which was an exchange reco. box and had only done 10,000 miles before the ute was retired due to excessive frame rust. And I have a new Redline four barrel intake manifold with a Rochester Quadrajet ( four more for spares) and CM Valiant split exhaust headers to go with. PM me if interested

1.you willl have trouble fitting a Hemi 6 in because of the length of the motor. 2.Its not easy to fit a hemi 6 to a 727,because not many Torqueflite blocks got made and they all had trouble with busting flex plates.. Now you can get a kit to put a Turbo 350,400,700 behind a Hemi for about $550,no flex problems then. I have been running a 318 for about 10 years or so.Dead stock just with elec ignition.Nice easy power that drives the 35s with std 3.5 diff gears very easy. Its less work to fit a 8 than a 6 to a Rangie because of the engine length. In the next few months this engine and 4 speed will be up for sale with the elec ignition and gas set up with it.If ya want to know more about fitting a 318 or 360 just ask i have done it all at some time..

The Hemi 6 block, water pump face to clutch housing face is only 1/4" longer than a red Holden. I have seen a Range rover with a Cross flow Falcon fitted and they are a bulkier, heavier engine than a Hemi 6. Another advantage, in Qld. anyway, is cheaper registration than a V8. Rego. in Qld is based on number of cylinders. A properly built Hemi 6 with appropriate carburation and exhaust, cam, etc. can produce a very reliable and tractable 250hp. or a not so tractable 300+.

Not that easy, RR 727 uses a different casing

Yeah ya right a Hemi 6 is so easy to make good power from.Ah the sound of a Rangie coming through the bush, with the Hemi spining at 6 grand and the triple carbs cracked wide open.SWEEEEEET.Yeah a 250 hp Hemi would be ok, but not as easy to get around in up the bush in as a stock old bigger cubed V8. If you are keen on a 6 cylinder how about AU or BA Ford stuff. May be a bit long than a Hemi, but is EFI and you can get them cheap these days. Hemi for me street car and a 8 for the 4 wheeler..

falcon engine is quite a lot shorter. and weight wise im not saying your wrong but i doubt it. falcon engine is ally headed and the hemi's are quite bulky
