Thread: Extractors for IIA 2.25 - options?

once upon a time Perry were the only ones who made them, so you could contact HM Headers (Perry Exhausts are now a part of HM) if they still have the jigs and can do it.
They definitely work. Back in the late seventies, my uncle had a Series III with Perry headers, a 2" exhaust and a couple of carby tweaks and the thing would do over 140km/h with a Fairey O/D ! (Dear old Dad can back this up. Uncle David is sadly no longer with us)

Interesting, thanks for the info. I can easily believe that they work, the stock manifold looks terrible!

So, are any other members using extractors on their 2.25 petrol?

I've got extractors on a 2.25. They came off a wreck that was part of a deceased estate, so I don't know who made them. They leaked and I had to get them cut down so that the flange was near the join of the pipes - that meant that the cracks at the join could be welded from the inside. Anyway, they work pretty well.

But the biggest improvement to performance I found was to have the cam ground. It only cost about $110 and the lobes were ground to specs similar to the 6cyl cam. That meant that all the valves (inlet & exhaust) opened 5 degrees sooner and closed 5 degrees later. This allowed the engine to breathe a whole lot better.

I had extractors on my 2.25P and now on my 2.25D. the 2.25 came with extractors, and when I built the 2.25D I bought extractors (Lukey I think). They weren't very expensive, but I can't remember how much exactly.
