Isn't it just a caliper change? Different size piston
So I am a bit dissapointed with the braking performance on my Discovery and i believe their is a problem somewhere although it does have newish pads all round.
Anyway the car I going to get the Toyota Centre conversion whereby I was going to replace most bearing and brake parts anyway.
Now to the question - I realise it is possible in some way to run the County/Defender braks on a discovery, but with what combination of hubs and spindles/stub axles and bearings??
What do I need to do to get them to fit?
I have access to late model 110 fronts brakes and were planning to leave the rear discos as is?
Does this sound feasable or will it mess with the brake proportioning?
Cheers,
Dave.

Discs are the same, but depending on the year the front may be vented or solid. If you have solid front discs you can fit vented discs, but will need either to either change calipers or fit a spacer kit.

County rear brakes are drums but the front calipers are about 30% bigger than RR/Disco fronts. Defender rear calipers should also be larger than Disco, not sure if its a bolt on swap with the rear, almost sure it is with the front.
However, Discos should brake quite well,a siezed calpiper piston could be the cause - check if your brake pads are wearing evenly on both sides of the caliper.
Thanks for the replys - if its just the calipers than thats cool.
I had always thought for some reason that the disks where bigger.
Thanks for the replys, I'll give that a go.
Cheers
Dave.
I have a 98 Disco and a 98 Defender and the Disco brakes run rings around the Defenders..both are discs but the difference is staggering
After talking to a few people, myself and mate with disco, just completed tojo conversion, both with 35's decided on slotted solid rotors and EBC greenstuff bads are the way to go, anyway would have had them fitted by now, yet they got the wrong pads in and will be another 2 weeks away
But talking to another bloke who has this setup, says his thing stops on a dime and near does endos![]()
Might just do that saves the stuffin around.
Who'd you get that setup through and if you don't mind a rough cost??
Thanks
Dave.
My mates missus ucle?
270 for front rotors and pads, but that was a special price![]()
