Exactly, it will go to sleep eventually...
Its a normal thing, I cant explain the nuts and bolts of whats ticking, but it is normal and does stop after a while once the car sleeps.
My '03 TD5 battery also went flat within 2 wks after buying (2.5yrs old). I had to replace the battery and then returned car to LR dealer for checking. They found a 4amp short in the ABS. Fixed it under warranty, but I had to wear the cost of the new battery. Tick was there before and after repairs. Dealer had not heard it before when I asked, but they then checked 3 other D2's in the yard and all of them ticked. LR Aust could not give them an answer at the time either. I have noticed if you leave the bonnet up and go back an hour or so later, it has stopped. Sounds like it must go into sleep mode after a while.

I've just noticed the same thing! Interestingly, my previous D2 didn't do this, but did suffer the Amigos (this one doesn't so far - *touches wood*). I also tested removing the ABS slim 30A fuse then replacing. Each time this stopped the ticking/noises. they came back when I started the car again. Funny little noises.. like it's singing a quiet song and ticking all in one. Some kind of oscillation.
If Tombie says it's cool, then I'll relax
Cheers

There was a previous post about D2 s batterys draining. The explanation of this was the SLABS ECU having a drain on the battery even when the veh is switched off. Bob
Mine does the same thing and when I queried it with the mechanic he basically said it was the cycling of the ABS valve things... he also mentioned that it will do a cycling periodically when the vehicle is static for a while...
Low and behold several days later I wandered into the garage, only drive on weekends, and from under the bonnet was the same clicking.
Still doesn't explain what it is but if the LR mechanic wasn't stressed by it...why should I...
