Thread: Pedders "Trak Ryder" ?????

Do a search on "shock absorbers" etc I am sure people have not had very good experiences with Pedders stuff.

Best to stick for brands that have a good reputation on Land Rovers like Bilstien or Koni, or ARB Old Man Emu.

It Depends on what you can afford but in saying that if you have to wait the extra couple of weeks to afford the good stuff do so
King Springs and Bilstein Dampers are the more commonly used set up in Discos
I have King Springs and Tough Dog Shock in my D2 and after messing around with 3 different sets of springs its come up trumps

I used Pedders,
Asked them to fit standard springs and shocks as I wanted a more comfortable ride. They could see I had crutches and a disabled sticker on the window. When I went to collect it they had brought it up around 2-3 inches and the ride was incredibly harsh. I asked them what they thought they were doing and they said that they thought thats what I wanted seeing as how I had a heavey duty pack rack - they cannot follow instructions.
I asked them to fix it and they said that they were happy to oblige, it is still too high and harsh and, at the end of the day, it was really the final straw for that car and part of the reason I bought a new one and put the landy up for sale.

I had Pedders on my first 93 Disco, they were on it when I purchased it, they were less than 12 months old with around 15000klms, I was fitting Lovells 2" lift springs and Bilstein shocks and steering damper, I was going to fit the Pedders to a trailer I had, 3 of the shocks were r00ted and the 4th was barely servicable, you could hold the top of the shaft a let the body go and it would drop like a rock to it's stop, both ways. Go for Bilsteins they will last longer and can be rebuilt when worn out, cheaper than buying inferior shocks, good value in the long run and they will transform your Disco on and off-road, Regards Frank.

Mate - I have used Pedders on two vehicles and have had bad experiences with on both of them. Aparently things can just break..... I went from these things to Koni on my Defender and the difference was huge - a good shock that lasted more than the first trip.

Fitted Pedders springs and foam cell shocks to my 96 tdi. Found the ride is fairly harsh don't know whether its the springs or shocks though. Great in the bush but to hard on the road. Thinking about changing for something else, think it may have been what caused the body to start to crack too.

They are fine for road cars but crap for a 4wd, the shocks are just re badged gabriels which are bloody useless.

Well that is very definate no confidence vote for Pedders, I thank you all for sharing you views. I'll look into some of the other brands mentioned. Thanks again to all.
