Well after spending a big part of today trying to get the tc out of diff lock ive given up trying to get it ready for the clubs sunday trip.....:( we are going to borrow some muds and take our new Rodeo instead......;)
I cleaned the links again, jacked up the front end & turned both wheels forward & backwards, driven up and down the nature strip on the other side of the road a few hundred meters both ways while going from full lock both ways, so it must be the linkages somewhere.........might try and disconect them and see what happens, cant be any worse, but I might try new oil, but it may be handy to have a car to drive to work in....... on tuesday.
Ok thanks blokes for the help so far, but monday I will need to try and find someone in town who "Might" know how to fix the Linkages etc but Im not holding my breath there, so any other last minute advice before i head out Monday morning with a fist full of dollers...?:(
Im a bit ****ed as for the 2yrs Ive had the Disco I havent needed to take to anybody to fix it......, which is great but Im dredding hearing the normal "What do u expect, its a Pommie peice of ...." so hence why I try and do everything myself, or at least ask tech mates for help or show me how to do it, while they drink my beer ;)
G'day Amshaw,
I'd try disconnecting the linkage from the spigot where it connects on top of the transfer case, then try moving the spigot (engage and disengage the diflock) with a 10mm flat spanner, you should hear a click as the cdl is deactivated by a spring on the "selector".
If you still have no luck and the spigot is moving freely you might want to take off the inspection plate on the side of the transfer case just below the spigot, drain the oil first. You can then check the spring and the selector shaft for normal operation.
Good luck mate, Phill
Oh, ok sorry:angel: http://home.twcny.rr.com/eeibooks/ro...codifflock.htm
Well I had a bit of a win.
I found I can easly move the Lever on top of the TC with a 13mm spanner to unlock the diff Lock........ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
So therefore it must be the Linkages........ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I pulled out the centre consol, and removed the rubber boot over the top of the TC, so I could have a peak. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I found that in the shaft/Lever "Hole" it was very dry, no grease to be seen. Also the factory rivets where still holding the boot on, so hasent seen any grease since the Factory https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
I gave the whole area a good clean so I could see if thre was any damage to lever or pins etc, nope all looked ok, so I got some grease in there and spread around one side of the Lever then on the other, put all back together.........but still cant move from Diff Lock when tested, so back under her with spanner to unlock......So Im not sure what else could be the problem, but at least we can drive the thing now. :p
But part 2 https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ , Having a bit of trouble gettting hand brake back to together. Its simple right? well I got it apart no probs, pulled clevis pin out etc, but when I went to put back in I found that the release shaft is in the way.....I didnt look when I pulled it apart, so how do I put the cable end back into the hole in the hand brake handle? https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Ive tried pushing it past the release rod but its very tight, that can be the only way it go's in as there isnt enough length to go any other way.....any ideas please?
Sorry for the Long Post, but I cant put all this into 10 words
