I've not heard of one being successfully fitted to a defender, but I guess it could be done, but I would expect it to cost a lot to do.
I can get my hands on a THOMAS PTO winch. I was told that fitting a drive shaft to a TD5 Defender is a lot of mucking around.
If anyone can help please.
Can it be done?
Is it expensive?
Who can supply the parts?
Cheers.
Snap.

Ok then... thanks.
Can it be changed into a Hydraulic winch?
If your defender runs a LT230 transfer case then maxidrive make an adapter to suit a pto winch, might be worth a look.
Thanks.
How do I know if it's a LT230?
All "Defender Shaped" Landrovers were fitted with an LT230 from 1985 on. So it has an LT230.
As above, you can buy a Maxi-Drive pto drive, and you will then need to run linkages to the front to connect to the winch.
Alternately you can get a hydraulic motor to mount on the winch, but it will probably be more $$$ and muching about.
Hey Snapper, if you can't use it? I sure can on a S111PM me Steve
Thanks Guys.
If I cant use it I will surely let you know.
I am pretty sure Grizzley Adams from here has a PTO on his defender.
I cant remember what year his is. ( i know i should but i am sleep deprivied) but might be worth a msg to him.
Cheers
