This discussion came up last week :

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread.php't=40097

... and Bushie had the ultimate answer. It's about 50 pages of tech diagrams, showing all the possible water ingress points on a Defender, and their fixes.

Highly recommend you download yourself a copy. I did.

I'd love to whinge about our defender leaking, but in the two years we've had it I think it's only been rained on about 5 times, and only one of them was a decent downpour.

After the rain, I get a puddle in the middle of the passenger footwell, but nothing obviously wet along the roof line to indicate where it's coming from.

Having done a search and found a few threads talk about door seals, could the water be coming in through the door seal at the top but running down in the door and puddling on the floor when it tries to drain out the bottom?
Do you realise that LandRover actually produce a manual on how to fix leaks in the body??? It details all of the common scenarios and where to apply the sealant, etc... to fix it.

Just seen that it has already been mentioned though I will say that there is a more up-to-date version of that manual kicking about.

Why don't they just build them with the fixes included? Would save everyone a lot of grief.

What can happen is the water can work its way around behind the door rubber and then can run down the edge of the firewall and out along the door restraint and drip off the end ending up in the middlish of the floor.

    Can be hard to spot.

The new Defender should be a lot better as the body is put together more accurately.
