    Consequence of wheel Size?

I’m looking at changing the wheel on my 99 Disco from the standard 16inch to a 31x10.5 R15LT 6 ply rating Kumho Venture A/T. So I’m dropping an inch – Does size matter?

What are the consequences if any of this change? fuel? etc

Why change? Well because the Mags are going for a good price and I want a little bling without spending $1700.

    Any advice is welcome.

You sure they will fit, the D2 and P38 have a weird stud patern - nothing like the D1 or Defender

If you get a slightly higher profile 15" tyre, the running diameter can end up the same as the 16", you just have a bit more rubber. Might even be a bit more comfortable!

D2 have 29.5" tyres from memory Std, so even thou your going a 15" rim from a 16" rim you are still putting 31" tyres on..... would not matter if the rims were 12" the tyre is still 31".

But before you do it, contact your insurance company, they might not allow a smaller Diam Rim.....

Spot on Clarkie, 31" is the diameter so it wont make a huge difference but as Ladas asked have you checked that they will fit as the D1 stud pattern is different and I would imagine that most D2 stuff would be 16" and up.

Another issue may be brake caliper clearence though the D1's can fit 15" rims but I dont know if the D2 stuff is the same.

D2's on standard 16" or standard 18" rims run with a 29" tyre as standard.

When I looked at doing mine I bought some 16" rims ......and I am now looking around for some 235/60/ 16's so I can get a more agressive/chunkier off road tyre without having to lift or cut

Does any one know if the caliper would have clearance with a 15" rim, that would be my concern over the diameter as tyre size can be changed but the rims are always going to be 15"

I'm with Ladas on this one. I'd be surprised if you could buy a 15in mag wheel for a D2. Maybe an aftermarket custom steel one but why would anyone make a 15in D2 mag wheel when all the rage is to fit bigger mags with lower profile tyres?

I'd be double checking before handing over any money.

I've just taken a look at my DII - I cannot fit my index finger between the brake caliper an the standard alloy rim. Also there is only about 1cm between the backing plate and the rim... I really doubt you will get a 15" rim to fit over the caliper.

I'd say these Mags are DI....which means as the others have pointed out - difffent stud pattern, different PCD..etc

Better off looking for the right rims...
