    SRS sensors

    Another silly question,
while i was fiddling with the fan belt yesterday i though i would have a look to see where the air bag sensors were. ( ok, i was bored)
Had a good look at the RAVE, and looked at the car and couldn't find them,
where I think they should be there is nothing, there are a few leads with nothing connected to them, and don't look like there ever was. According to the rave they should lay flat and on the front of the chassis rails. there are bolt holes but nothing.

Are they hidden or should they be obvious?

The crush cans are just an additional crumple zone. They mount between the bumper & chassis.

95MY Discos (MA) had crash sensors mounted on top of the chassis rails. If you have a yellow harness in the engine bay, it'll lead to the crash sensors.

96MY (TA) onwards just relied on the decellerometer mounted inside the SRS ECU (DCU) under the centre console (which the MA also had).

i think I may have found the answer, thanks to mr scouse, there are no yellow leads in the engine bay i am a mid 96 disco, and there are yellow harnesses under the dash in the mess of wiring. Will have a look later.

is anyone else the same??( have no underbonnet sensors that is)

I noticed my '95 Disco without SRS had yellow SRS cabling under the dash so that may not be a true indicator!

Mine is a late 95 with the sensors as said mounted on top of the chassis each side of the radiator.

It also has the convoluted yellow cabling

But mine are coming out real soon
