Defender windscreen onto Series?

Maybe 6 ft plus people have a problem seeing out of a series
I guess its like a defender hand brake some people it realy iratates and others it doesnt
I have a mate that just bought a defender and he is a similar build to me and the only thing that iratates him about the defender is the hand brake
I spose it all depends on what you are use to as ive owned many a series so the handbrake or windscreen dont bother me , my mate has just come out of a classic rangie so maybe thats why the handbrake iratates him :angel:

It might just be me but so far It seems to me like I was cast from the same physical mould as the test dummy that the guys who do the design of landrovers use to do the ergonomics.

A series windshiled is at the exact right height to block the sun so i dont need the visor

the deefer handbrake just clears my leg...

My shoulders just miss the pillars....

I can drive a perentine GS with a litter in place and in use on the drivers side.

hell the mag on the f88 just clears my normal 3/4 shift arm movement too...

I dont think a deefer winshield will fit a series mainly because of the hinging differences. but I have an empty sereis windshield frame around here somewhere Might take it to work and side by side it to a perentine frame if you like which is near enough the same as a county/early deefer frame.

The issue is the height, not the looks. I am not tall, and the current set up does mean that the sun is never a problem (and the sun visors superfluous), but I find that you do end up sitting kinda hunched up in order to get a better view, and that leads to a saw back and neck - you catch yourself sitting all hunched up, sit up straight to stretch your back and find that you cannot see out properly!!

measuers up the windshields I have today....

It will work on a seriesIII but the series II screen frame I have has the windshiled mounts out by a poomteenth, but a couple of washers and a longer bolt will deal with that.

height is obviously different

I've done it too. Got a def windscreen on a series 11a firewall. Just had to redrill the holes in the firewall to suite the 110 hinges.
And yes the 11a's frame is a **** tin loads stronger, I rolled my car twice now (I love roll cages:D) the steel frame hardly bent and the 110 frame was a total wright off, and the windscreen.
But on the plus side I'm 6'2 and I can now see out of the window:D
