    Question Spare Wiring Loom

Just in the process of wiring up the new Engine Saver to my 95 300 tdi man D1, I found a spare loom behind the drop down panel under the steering wheel. It has a red plastic 9 pin female socket with yellow insulation. I identified a 12v output when the ignition is switched on. Anybody know what this factory loom was meant for ? Cheers Dave

Red connector and yellow conduit is SRS.
Your model had twin or single airbags as an option.
Yes, you may use it as a 12v supply as it should be fused at the fuse box.

Thanks for your input. The Engine Saver job went smoothly, and I used the 12v supply from the ' surplus ' SRS airbag wiring. it's fused at the main fuse panel with a 10amp fuse. Talking about airbags, does anybody know if airbags can be retro-fitted if they weren't orginally fiited to the car when delivered new. ? If I did go that way I would have to find another 12v supply for the Engine Saver, you wouldn't want the Airbags going off if your top radiator hose went dry. Cheers Dave
