    Question reversing lights

Now my landy doesn't have reverse lights but i have some to install . Can i just run a switch from in the cab or can it be hooked up to the gearbox some how ? I'm not sure what would pass for the roadworthy . Cheers

There should be a switch on the gearbox for the reverse light. I dare say for rego if its urgent and only if your mechanic is confident you'll be back with a completed job you could wire up a temporary switch. But for the same amount of work you could just wire it up properly. Your gearbox does have a reverse switch doesnt it?

I adapted my 2A at the gearbox for this. Not hard.

I understand you can manually switch them from the cab, but you must have an indicator lamp/buzzer to show they are still on.

This is the simplest method if you don't have provision at the box.

    simple...

bore and thread a hole in front of the reverse gear selector rod fit a push to open switch in the hole and adjust so that when in nuetral its pushed in and when you select reverse its let out..

Alternatively fit a push to make switch and then fit a DPST relay (the black plastic horn relays work ok) and wire it up as a signal inverter so that when the switch is on the relay output is off and vice versa.

takes about 30 mins to do once the tunnel cover is up.

Four Wheel Drives sell a kit, or did last time I looked, but you don't really need that. The Landrover standard setup uses a hole (drill if not there already) in the bracket that holds the gearlever ball opposite the back of the reverse selector - this is fitted with a push-on spring return switch. The standard reversing lamp is the same as the sidelights, but with a higher wattage bulb, and is usually fitted inboard of the other lights.

What i have done is i bought a full set of LED taillights which has the indicator on top and brake and tail light underneith . then i bought a pair of single reverse LED's the same size 80mm x 80mm and was going to have it set up in the same position as the series 3 lights .

Yeah, but then you end up with square lights

There are some round LED sets on ebay USA, about the right size (2 inch diameter).
