Shouldnt have any cat converters if its an aussie spec.
Can run no mufflers OK.

Hey All,
Have just fitted a larger set of tyres and i'm looking to regain a little of the lost power. What are the legalities of removing the catalytic converter?? I've been reading a few of the posts and maybe just chucking a vortex muffler in place of the existing two would do the trick??
Any thoughts from those far more experienced than me??
Cheers in advance,
CaptJimmy

D2 TD5 had Cats on 2003 roughly....
I have heard that removing the centre muffler will improve low down torque and doesnt increase noise that much...am thinking about trying it myself...

Well for $440 you can't go by a flashed ECU by Tombraider, heaps of power
Hi,
I agree, get TR's ECU Upgrade. Remove the cat and get a Vortex muffler like Tombraider said in one of his posts.
My MY2003 with the ECU upgrade and Vortex muffler thinks it is a TURBO 6 and I have to keep telling it, that is only a 2.5 Litre engine but after driving my mates 4.2l 1993 toyota cruiser ute I think the TD5 might be right.
Thank my lucky stars that I drive a LandRover!! after driving that thing..
