BFG ats arent too bad as a substitute
new ones are available at beaurepairs for about $270 a wheel including tube and balance.

isuzu still fit them to trucks so you can buy them off the shelf.

you can get 2nd hand ones for about 30-35 bucks a wheel.

    uncleho has the guys details.

I run steel tracks on both the bloodbox and 110....nothing wrong with them....maybe a tad noise on a disco etc..but in a 2A you wouldn't hear them...can't hear them in the bloodbox, too many rattles and gearbox.....but do on the 110..even over the isuzu....

mtrs have their good points but they rip sidewalls way to easy. very nice tyre otherwise.

i run steel treks on the defender because i couldnt find anything else, as aggressive, in a radial in a legal fit on a 5.5 rim.

i am slowly acquiring disco rims and i will be putting mtrs on them when i get 5 rims and a small win in the casket...

i run the sime konvoys on the series ii and they are great for a $120 tyre....

Have you experienced this yourself or just heard this???

I have done HEAPS of offroad driving over very sharp rocks at 8psi pressure on mine. The sidewalls have copped one hell of a hiding and have plenty of scratches and other minor marks - but I have not managed to damage a sidewall yet.

seen at least 3 tyres over the last few years with my own eyes...

two i saw occur, oddly enough both under nissanns.

the other i came across on the side of a track and helped the lucky jeep owner to jack his pos up after his jack crapped itself...

there is also a really good example in the front office of beaurepairs at morayfield... hadnt even worn the moulding teats off the tyre and it has a lump of timber at least 65mm in dia thru the side wall... he wasnt a happy puppy..... he got another and hasnt been back so his luck must have improved :P
