Are you replacing the engine fan?
Those cable ties throught the fins are a bad idea, particularly in a 4wd.
What about the falcon EL-AU fans?
As mine are RS, and I dont want gen fans, I was looking at aftermarket.
My question is are the aftermarket fans ok to fit to our d1a TDi?
I relise that gen fans will fit up with no issues, but the aftermaket fans have those nylon type tie's where you thread them through the rad fins and then tighten up.....are they ok ?
And should I get two or be a tight **** and buy one only?

Dont go for the ford type of fans as they dont have a sealed motor well the ones i had didnt and they lasted about 3 months as they didnt like water and mud in em and carked im now going for one 16in davies craig as they have a sealed motor and 2year warranty![]()
so is there a good way to attach fans to a radiator?
I did see on here somewhere a pair mounted on a sheet of ply behind the radiator like a shrould.
No replacing the elec fans in front of the air con condencer.......I didnt relise mine where stuffed until I was driving to Beachport last year and it got a had hot.....40dec in the shade and I was towing our camper......
I looked at EL Falcon fans , but fit old rangies but not discos
Would I be better off getting an elec fan to replace the fan on the motor? Im guessing I would have more grunt then too.
I just had my two front fans replaced as the genuine ones were dead.
My mechanic fitted two after market fans, 9" or 10" each I believe(i can find out if you want)
He didn't use the plastic ties, they were too flimsy, instead he used long bolts through the fins of the transmission cooler.
He had already removed the radiator to get it serviced as it was 40% blocked so I asked him to do the fans at the same time seeing the whole front had been pulled apart.
The whole setup looks kind of neat and they kick in straight away as soon as you turn the air conditioner on which the old ones didn't do.
Quite an expensive job, $700 for the lot, including cleaning the radiator and new bottom hose (looked old) and thermostat.... on the positive, I now have a very cool running Disco
the temp gauge doesn't even reach the half way mark.
