    whats making this clunking sound?

i get a slight clunk as if something is slipping when turning and braking. is it the CV joints? and is there a simple way to test them without dismantling the front hubs? also, is there anything else that could be responsible?
    thanks.

I could be wrong, but usually, bung CV's knock and clatter most, when closer to full lock.
(The Landlords Toyota Hilux is rather noisy in that department at the moment, not so my dear old S3).

It may be some thing nasty, if it is not at close to full lock.

More experienced Landy owners, will be more knowledgeable.

Check yer bushes.... Especially the panhard rod. While there, you might want to quickly check for play in the bearings.

Have you tried getting someone to wiggle the steering/shake the car while you get underneath and feel for a clonk??
