I reckon that is just the "water in the fuel" sensor wire back to the dashboard.
Broke the connector to my fuel filter on my manual '99 D2 TD5 this morning whilst on a club run.........how will this affect driving in the short term? Going to get it to my mechanic asap as I have a big club trip coming up but just wondering what i can expect with no power to the filter.
I reckon that is just the "water in the fuel" sensor wire back to the dashboard.
I assume it is the rear one, drivers side near the chassis?
It should not be a problem from what I know. I believe it tells you when water is in the bottom of the trap.
And as a bonus, mine sometimes tells me that there is water when there is not, just a rover thing I suppose.
Thanks guys, puts my mind at rest. That light does occasionally come on and then goes off again. It looks like I haave ripped it clean off from the filter itself and the plug looks intact, so would I be right in assuming a new filter will come with a new connector?
Appreciate your help and will tuck the hanging connector up out of the way for the time being
Aye, Mick
Rover put it in a silly place.

"From there it goes to the silliest place, the fuel filter, situated on the outside chassis real just behind the rear wheel!!!! (Picture below taken from the rear right side on a 99' Discovery) On Defenders it's protected by a thin sheet of metal, couldn't find out why they didn't mount a serious protection. Any lump of wood will cut right though it."

I have never taken mine off but it looks like it screws into the filter.
Mick,
It's just that I spend too much time at the computer, waaaay tooooo muuucch tiiiime!
Maybe keep an eye on the filter in case it begins to leak. It depend if the internals are fractured.
I got a big bit of hose and a hose clamp.
Cut a slot up it and slipped it over the filter.
It hangs down past the switch and stops any rocks or wood hitting it.
Cheers
