and a few more arr bugger <do it tomorrow>
Driving past Boondal nth bound this morning and some pipe let go near raditor.
Pumped all the fluid from auto.
What a mess, now all I have to do is clean(?) about 500 lts of hydro oil from under disco and find busted pipe.
WHAT DO YOU THINK.HALF A HOUR??
I'm betting half a carton.![]()

The auto cooler hoses are notorious for splitting. I'd suggest getting the originals repaired with new hose (using the original pipe sections) rather than replacing the whole pipe/hose assy with a genuine part.
Be careful fitting them up too. The quick release couplings need to be securely connected otherwise you'll lose your oil again.

are there better fittings to use?

I have seen different fittings used but it involves removing the cooler & replacing the original fittings.
There's nothing really wrong with the quick connects as long as they are connected properly.
Maybe talk to one of the hose specialists like Enzed or Pirtek & see if they have a suggestion if you like.

OK found fault this morning.hose has come adrift from the pipe from gearbox.Removed airbox and can get to it easy. Replaced hose with hp hose from cat and clamped.servicing box seeing as there is stuffall oil left in it.(new filter etc)Its almost four years since I last serviced it and disco is used to pull boat(2.8tonnes) and caravan.Oil looks quite crappy so maybe this is one way of getting me off my **** and doing some servicing.
cheers.

good one scouse.you put the mocca on me.
quick disconnect came off after a couple of kays and lost fluid again.
finaly fitted disconnect the RIGHT way and alls well.
Not sure how much fluid was used it comes in 20 gall drums.
also found rattle at 2300 rpm.exhaust pipe was pressing on bolt that hold the balence thingee at the rear diff.(cut off thread)
hardest part was getting rid of all the trannie fluid from under the disco.
I suffered a similar problem in my 99 Td5 last month, just out of Dubbo. (A loooong way from my shed!)
Had the lines replaced only to find that the tranny cooler had also sprung a leak.
Gotta stop walking under ladders, etc.
