    RTC3511 hub seal

    Hey,

    Am in the middle of doing my wheel bearings at the moment, and am about to install the RTC3511 seal. However i dont know which way this new double lipped seal goes in. any help would be much appreciated

    the lip with the steel band exposed faces toward the diff.

    you knock the seal into the housing to a depth leaving a shoulder of approx 4mm between the face and the top of the hub.

    ie the flat seal face is down in deeper than the hub face by 4mm and the lip with the exposed steel band is near level with the hub.

    The inside lip of the drive flange makes a perfect seal installer, it even controls the depth!

    Must be a fluke, Land Rover wouldnt have designed it t his way
