Will a 15" wheel fit on a Disco or will there be clarence problems with brakes etc?

Hi. It's not so much the wheel diametre but the tyre you're fitting. Obviously 40" Boggers on 15 inch rims aren't going to fit. I've been running 15x8 rims with 31x10.5x15 tyres for about 6 years. I have a '91 Disco with a 2 inch spring lift. Initially i found the rear of the rear wheel arch nicked the outside of the rear tyres on full articulation - so i trimmed the guard with a nibbler (attachement on a drill).
I guess 15x7 with 31's wouldn't give any dramas but it depends if you've got a spring or body lift.
I'm sure theres a spreadsheet of what wheel/tyre combos will fit with varying (no mods to flares) body mods.... i'll try find it.
I think the problem is more about the rim fitting over the brakes and shields rather than fitting large diameter tyres. Sometimes you cant fit smaller rims due to this. The advantage of 15" rims is cheap tyres.

I had 15" rims on both of my disco 1s - there are no problems with clearances on brakes or body with 235 width tyres - anything wider/higher though may be an issue though so a lift/trim would be needed.

G'day Randylandy,
What model Disco are we talking?.. As the guys have said you should have no drama with a Disco 1..... but I'm with Slunnie if it's a DII....I can't fit my finger between the caliper and inside of a 16" rim on mine... so no way a 15" would fit.
Cheers. Mark

You might know that- but no one else does
- no model listed on the original post and no model in the profile.
I must admit I had my blinkers on and automatically assumed a D1 but it could have a been a D1, D2 or even a D3 that the original post was referring too.
I guess it shows we should list our cars in the signature blocks or list what model the thread/post specifically refers too.
Cheers
Garry
